I recently visited Surabaya Zoo (Kebun Binatang Surabaya), and it made me think about how we experience wildlife inside a city setting.

Located right in the heart of Surabaya, this zoo has been around for decades and is home to a wide range of animals, from Komodo dragons and orangutans to elephants and exotic birds. It’s one of the oldest zoos in Indonesia, and you can feel that history the moment you walk in.

But here’s what I’m curious about.

What Does “Safari Experience” Really Mean in an Urban Zoo?

When we talk about safari and wildlife experiences, we often imagine open savannas or national parks. Surabaya Zoo is different it’s structured, accessible, and family-friendly.

So my question is:
