I would recommend Mount Rinjani in Lombok. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful mountains in Indonesia because the scenery is incredible from the beginning until the summit. The view of Segara Anak Lake inside the crater is something you won’t easily find anywhere else. The hike is quite challenging, especially the summit attack with loose sand, but the sunrise view from the top is absolutely worth the effort. My tip is to prepare your stamina and choose a good trekking organizer because the weather can change quickly.

@tengkusintya Thank you for the recommendation, Sintya! Mount Rinjani has always been on my bucket list. The combination of the crater lake, sunrise, and challenging trail sounds like the kind of adventure I’m looking for. I’ll definitely prepare physically before going there and look into a reliable trekking guide.

For a first unforgettable hiking experience, I suggest Mount Bromo in East Java. It may not be the highest mountain, but the landscape is truly magical. Watching the sunrise over the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru area feels like being in another world. The combination of the sea of sand, volcanic scenery, and the view of Mount Semeru in the background is amazing. It’s also more accessible compared to many other mountains, so it’s a great choice for beginners who want to experience Indonesian mountain scenery.

@ida_rt Thanks, Ida! Mount Bromo sounds like a perfect place to start. I love destinations that offer amazing views without requiring extremely difficult climbs. The sunrise and volcanic landscape are definitely something I want to experience someday.

My recommendation would be Mount Prau in Central Java. It’s a great option if you want beautiful views but don’t have much experience with long hikes. The famous sunrise from Mount Prau shows a stunning panorama of several mountains, including Sindoro and Sumbing. The trail is manageable, but you still get the feeling of a real mountain adventure. I recommend camping overnight because the night sky there is also incredible, especially when the weather is clear.

@firman_330 That sounds amazing, Firman! I really enjoy places where you can combine hiking with camping and enjoying nature slowly. The sunrise view with other mountains in the background sounds like a memorable experience. I’ll add Mount Prau to my hiking list.

I would choose Mount Semeru, the highest mountain in Java. The journey to the summit is not easy, but the landscapes along the way are unforgettable. You’ll pass through beautiful places like Ranu Kumbolo Lake and the famous Oro-Oro Ombo valley. The scenery changes throughout the trek, from forests to open grasslands and volcanic landscapes. My advice is to make sure you are physically ready and always follow the local regulations because mountain conditions can be unpredictable.

@elifyilmaz Thank you, Elif! Mount Semeru sounds like a true adventure for experienced hikers. The different landscapes along the route are really interesting, especially Ranu Kumbolo which I’ve heard is beautiful. I’ll definitely do more preparation and research before attempting this hike.
