About This Discussion

I’ve been exploring Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and loved how the city combines waterfront views, street food, and contemporary art.

The harbour walk around Pier-2 was a highlight, especially for discovering creative spaces and public art. In the evening, I headed to a night market to try local snacks and experience the city’s lively atmosphere.

Getting around by MRT and light rail was also convenient, making it easy to explore without a car.

Any local or fellow backpacker have a favourite night market, hidden harbour spot, or art space in Kaohsiung? Would love to hear your recommendations!

Pier-2 Art Center is definitely worth visiting! I loved the mix of art, old warehouses, and harbour views.

@yinameiling Totally agree! It’s such a fun area to explore on foot, especially in the late afternoon.

Which night market would you recommend for a first-time visitor?

@dev_sadhil I’d suggest trying Liuhe Night Market. It’s easy to reach and has plenty of local food to try!
