This journey began in Bandung, taking the northern route all the way to Banyuwangi, and returning to Bandung via the southern coast. Total distance: approximately 2,500 km.

But this trip was never just about the numbers.

Along the way, I discovered so many things that can’t be measured in kilometers—genuine kindness from locals, hidden natural beauty, and cities that once felt “ordinary” but have now grown into destinations worth stopping for.

From peaceful coastal roads to challenging mountain climbs, every kilometer told a story. Was it exhausting? Absolutely. But the experience was truly irreplaceable.

Some cities even exceeded my expectations:

📍 Situbondo Home to what might be one of the largest and most beautiful coastal rest areas along the northern route. A perfect blend of modern facilities and breathtaking ocean views.

📍 Banyuwangi Often known as the “gateway to Bali,” but Banyuwangi has a charm of its own. Rapid development, diverse attractions, and warm-hearted locals made it hard to leave. Not to mention its iconic dish, Nasi Tempong.

📍 Lumajang Located at the foot of Mount Semeru, this city offers extraordinary natural beauty. From Tumpak Sewu waterfall to stunning mountain landscapes, it’s no surprise that international tourists keep coming. A true hidden gem of Indonesia.

📍 Madiun Once known mainly for Pecel and Brem, Madiun has grown into a calm and “chill” city. A peaceful yet productive atmosphere, with strong potential as an emerging destination.

📍 Batu Karas A small coastal town in the south that offers a tranquil lifestyle in harmony with nature. Perfect for slow living, remote work, or simply disconnecting to reconnect.

This journey opened my eyes—Indonesia is so much more than just Bali. There are countless cities with incredible potential waiting to be discovered by the world.

Hopefully, these places continue to grow sustainably and receive the attention they deserve—because Indonesia’s story is far richer than we often realize.
