About this Meetup

I’m planning a day hiking trip to Mount Rokko near Kobe/Osaka, and honestly I feel like this hike would be way more memorable with fellow travelers instead of walking alone the whole way. We’ll start from Hankyu Ashiyagawa Station and hike through one of the most beautiful mountain trails near Osaka. The route is known for its rocky paths, peaceful forest atmosphere, small shrines hidden along the trail, and incredible panoramic views overlooking Kobe, Osaka Bay, and the city skyline from above. What I love about this trail is that it feels challenging enough to be exciting, but still perfect for a one-day adventure. The atmosphere changes slowly as you climb higher from quiet residential streets to dense forest, giant rocks, fresh mountain air, and open viewpoints that honestly make you stop walking for a minute just to breathe. And the best part? Ending the hike with a relaxing Japanese onsen after hours of climbing sounds like the perfect reward. This meetup is open for: - Solo travelers - Hiking lovers - Photography & content creators - Anyone who enjoys nature and slow travel experiences Expected plan: - Meet at Hankyu Ashiyagawa Station - Start morning hike toward Mount Rokko - Enjoy viewpoints and rest stops along the route - Visit shrines & rocky sections - Finish with food or onsen nearby if everyone wants Things to prepare: - Comfortable hiking shoes - Water & snacks - Light jacket (weather can change quickly) - Small towel if joining the onsen later Best season: - Spring and autumn for cooler weather and clearer scenery Estimated budget: - Train transportation: around ¥1,000–2,000 - Onsen: around ¥800–1,500 - Food/snacks depending on preference Japanese hiking culture is usually quiet and respectful, so let’s also keep the mountain clean and enjoyable for everyone. If anyone wants to join, we can explore Mount Rokko together, share stories during the climb, take photos from the top, and maybe end the day soaking in hot springs while watching the mountains slowly disappear into sunset.
