Photography Walk at Taman Harmoni Keputih: From Landfill to a Garden of Stories

![Image](/images/stories/content/content-1779156325380-932238645.jpg) ## Have You Ever Taken Photos in a Place That Used to Be Forgotten? I went to Taman Harmoni Keputih with my camera, but I left with something more than photos. What surprised me most was not the colorful garden or the themed zones. It was the story of the land itself. This place used to be a final waste disposal site, a landfill that many people avoided. Today, it has become one of the greenest corners in Surabaya, stretching across 8 hectares like the city quietly rewrote its own memory. I came in the late afternoon when the light was softer. The air moved through the bamboo, children laughed near the playground, and every corner looked like a place waiting to be framed. ## Photographing a Park That Feels Like Many Countries in One The new concept, Harmony of The World, makes the park feel unusual in a beautiful way. Walking through it, I passed themed areas inspired by different continents Europe, Asia, America, Africa, Antarctica, and Australia. It was simple, but enough to create interesting photo compositions, especially when the golden sunlight touched the pathways and sculptures. The bamboo forest was the part that stayed with me. ### The Bamboo Path Felt Quietly Cinematic There was something about the tall bamboo moving above me. The light filtered through the leaves and created shadows on the ground that changed every few seconds. I kept stopping to take photos, but none of them fully captured how calm it felt. It was not just about taking pictures. It was about standing still and letting the place shape the moment. ## A Family Park That Still Feels Personal Around me, families were enjoying the space. Kids ran toward the playground, some were trying the flying fox, others were feeding rabbits and looking at the pony area. There were small stalls from local UMKM, and the smell of snacks mixed with the scent of fresh grass after the afternoon heat. But even with the crowd, some corners still felt private enough for photography. I found myself taking photos of ordinary things a bench under the trees, bicycle shadows on the path, a child holding balloons, bamboo leaves touching the sky. ### A Place That Changed More Than Its Landscape I think that was why the place felt meaningful. Taman Harmoni Keputih is not just a city park. It is proof that even land once associated with waste can become beautiful again. It is transformation you can see, but also something you can feel while walking there. I came to take content. I ended up thinking about how places heal, and how cities can choose to grow differently. ## Let’s Discuss Have you visited Taman Harmoni Keputih recently? ### If you enjoy photography: 👉🏻 Which spot gave you the best natural lighting? 👉🏻 Did you prefer the bamboo forest or the themed continent zones? 👉🏻 Have you captured portraits, family moments, or cinematic street-style photos here? 👉🏻 Do you think it’s one of the most underrated photography spots in Surabaya? I’d love to hear how this place looked through your lens.
