Malaysia Street Food Recommendations?

Hi LocallyTrip members, I'm currently visiting Malaysia and want to explore the best street food spots. Any recommendations for food streets, hawker centers, or night markets with amazing local food? What dishes are a must-try there? Thanks! πŸœπŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύβœ¨

If you love a street food destination with endless options, I highly recommend Jalan Alor in Kuala Lumpur. The place comes alive at night, and the variety of food is incredible. You can find satay, grilled seafood, chicken wings, char kway teow, and all kinds of traditional Malaysian desserts. What I enjoy most is the lively atmosphere you can simply walk along the street and choose from dozens of food stalls lined up on both sides. It's a perfect place for first-time visitors because you can sample many famous Malaysian dishes in one location.

@phamhuanglong Jalan Alor definitely seems to be one of the must-visit food spots in Malaysia. I love places where I can try different dishes without having to travel far. The char kway teow and grilled seafood already sound amazing. Thanks for the recommendation, I think this will be my first food stop when I get to Kuala Lumpur! πŸ˜‹

I wouldn't miss Gurney Drive Hawker Centre in Penang. Many travelers consider Penang the food capital of Malaysia, and after visiting, I can understand why. Some must-try dishes are Penang Asam Laksa, Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee, and Cendol. The flavors are unique and quite different from what I've tasted elsewhere. The food is also reasonably priced, making it a great option for travelers. If you have extra time, I would even suggest spending a few days in Penang just exploring its incredible food scene.

@abizard Thank you so much for the recommendation! I've heard many great things about Penang's food culture. Asam Laksa and Cendol are already on my must-try list. I may need to extend my stay there because it sounds like there are so many local dishes worth exploring. 🍜✨
