They appeared slowly.

At first, just shapes resting on scattered rocks.

Then movement.

One slipped into the water, followed by another, until suddenly the sea wasn’t empty anymore.

It was alive.

Seals gliding effortlessly, diving and resurfacing, their bodies cutting through the water like they belonged to a world I was only visiting.

Some came closer.

Not too close just enough to notice me.

Eyes curious, movements unbothered.

There was no performance, no urgency.

Just coexistence.

For a moment, I wasn’t a visitor.

Just another presence floating in their world.

The ride back felt different.

Nothing had changed, yet everything had.

The waves still moved the same way, the wind still brushed against my skin but I carried something quieter now.
